Ofrenda (2025) by Stefano Contiero brings remembrance and renewal into a series of 1,111 generative works created in collaboration with Maya Spirits. Released through Art Blocks in October 2025 around Día de Muertos, the collection approaches an offering as a gesture of return, connecting the memory of those who have died with the lives of those who remain.
Arcs, bars, triangles, and small squares gather into mirrored structures, moving between dense centers and more open outer edges. Some compositions build through bright combinations of blue, turquoise, pink, yellow, and green; others restrict the same vocabulary to black, white, and gray. Repeated reflections bring small marks into larger arrangements without erasing their individual shapes. This use of symmetry revisits questions of life, death, and recurrence explored in Infinito (2022), giving the artist’s language of dissolution and return a visible structure.
Maya Spirits connected the release to art and education programs for mothers and children in Calakmul, linking the work’s theme of return to support for a living community. The collection’s dedication joins care for the jungle with support for the Indigenous people who sustain it. Remembrance becomes a reason to give something back, placing an offering within an ongoing relationship between people, place, and memory.
